Clean and Simple Oldie

There is a great sketch over at Clean and Simple stamping blog (FTL 87) this week. One of those perfect sketches for any occasion. And it's pretty simple. So why did it take me most of the morning yesterday to make these cards??

Do you ever have those days? You look at a sketch and think, "this one is so easy, I'll be done in no time flat!". Then papers and patterns and colors get in the way and before you know it, that very simple sketch has taken on a life of it's own!

I'm glad I continued to throw papers around, I finally came up with 4 cards I liked. And it WAS fast and simple, once I found the papers I wanted to use!

Since it's Oldie Moldie Monday, I dug into my stash for the papers. The Mom card paper is from Paper Salon and the Dad card paper is from Basic Grey. Both papers have enjoyed a long stay in my scrap box and it was high time they got used. The stamps are from Studio G. The flowers have also been in my stash for a few years, glad to finally use them.
If you'd like to join Barb and I in our quest to use our supplies that have been lovingly collecting dust for years, upload your card to our Flickr gallery and we'll give it some more love.
And stay tuned, we're joining Operation Write Home next Monday. It'll be a great chance to use your supplies for a great cause. And there will be prizes!
Thanks and Happy Monday!

Get Sketchy Saturday

It's not too often that a sketch, free time and good mojo come together for me. Usually one of the 3 of those things are lacking. But this morning, the stars were aligned and this card came together fairly quickly.

This is for the sketch challenge at Get Sketchy.

The flowery patterned paper is from Basic Grey (Eva), the lavender is from K&Co. I made the scallop border using a circle punch and cutting the circles in half as I didn't have a scallop die cut big enough for the circle. I die cut the flower out of old dictionary pages, spritzed them with purple shimmery stuff and curled the edges when dry. I made the 'shimmery spritz' using Polished Pigment powder from LuminArte. I have a ton of the powders leftover from my Simply Sentiments days. It's good to put them to use once in a while. The letters are Thickers from American Crafts and the large gem brad is from Recollections.

Hope you're having a great Saturday. We're off to a music lesson and some shopping.

Thanks for coming to take a peek. Ivanka

Mom Card-2S4Y

It was a beautiful day out, one of those perfect spring days. Bright sunshine, light winds...perfect day for launching the boat. And someone is very happy...he'll be spending all of his free time at the marina...spitting and polishing!

Today's card is for the sketch challenge on 2S4Y. It's been a while since I've done one of the challenges there and this was fun. There is so much amazing inspiration over on their blog.

I started with some paper that came in a pack of papers from Costco. I loved it for the fresh, spring feel. Perfect for a Mother's Day card. The ribbon is from Offray, label die cut is from Nestibilities, Label 8. Cuttlebug script embossing folder, QuicKutz scallop die cut. Letters are from American Crafts.

Hope your weekend includes some time to create. Thanks for dropping by.

It's Been a While...

Hard to believe it's been 2 weeks since I made a card. Between painting and redoing Julia's room, my mom coming for a visit and Julia's Confirmation, there was no time for me to sneak off to my happy room.

But things are somewhat back to normal and it was fun to get back to it this morning. Today's card is for several challenges.

First is the sketch challenge at Clean and Simple Stamping Blog FTL86. I was happy to see that their sketch fit perfectly with the monthly challenge over at the SRM blog. The challenge is to make a card using circles and stickers. Last, it's for today's challenge at 365 Cards Blog to create a card with a decorated front, back and everything in between.

Cardstock: DCWV
Patterned Paper: Basic Grey (Eva) and Making Memories (Sabrina)
Stickers: SRM Press (Quick Cards-Girls and Sticker Sentiments-Baby)
Stamps: Kolette Hall (Congratulations) and K&Co. (Hand made with love)
Scalloped Border: Colorbok

Great challenges and so much fun to get back into it. Thanks for dropping by. I'll try not to be such a stranger around here.

365 Cards

I should be painting. But there were a couple of challenges that were calling me....so here I am quickly, then I have to go make it look like I've been painting all day!!

These two cards are for challenges on 365 Cards Blog. This one is for Day #40, Friday 5. The challenge is to use 5 of 5 things on your card. I think I accomplished it all, there are lots of 5 on this card anyway!

The flowers are from Prima, stamped stems are from Skipping Stone Designs, buttons are from magic Scraps, paper is from Basic Grey (Sugar Rush), scalloped border is from Colorbok, twine is from May Arts, sentiment is computer generated.

This card is also for the 365 Cards blog, challenge #39 to use only rub on transfers on your card. I loved this challenge, it made me go through my huge collection of rub ons. They have been drying out and transferring onto the backings, so it was high time to use some. I don't know who makes the pear rub on, the sentiment is from K&Co.
I had a nice chat with my friend Kelly (Hi Kelly!) this morning. Yup...trying to avoid the painting! Anyway, Kelly makes gorgeous cards and I was encouraging her to set up a blog so we could all admire them. I think I'll have to keep working on her.
Happy Friday.

It's Your Special Day Card

The lovely and talented ladies over at Die Cuts R Us have another challenge this week. The challenge is to use a stamped image on a card and add a bird on to the card somewhere. Have a peek at their cards, their Puddle Jumper stamped images are adorable.

Here's my card for the challenge. The flower is from Stampin' Up, stamped with ColorBox ink and cut out. Bling is from Prima, bird rub on is from Little Yellow Bicycle, ribbon is from Offray, sticker sentiment is from SRM. If you haven't been over to the SRM blog, make sure you stop by soon. They're hosting a spring blog hop and sketch challenge this week. And there's tons of prizes to be had.
I've also found a new place to share my creations...I'm linking up to:

It's a Happy Day

Don't you find that when you've created a 'happy' card, you can't help but be happy. Or is it the other way around??

Here's my card for today...definitely happy! I made this for the sketch challenge on the SRM blog. As well as the sketch, they're having a fab blog hop, so drop on by and leave some comments and you may win a prize.

I used Cosmo Cricket's Lil' Man papers and chipboard, Nestabilities Label 8 die cut, Offray ribbon and SRM sticker.

Just for fun, do you know what the #1 Song on on April 6, 1984 was? Footloose...a very happy song...makes me tap my toes every time I hear it.

Diggin' the 80's, aren't I??
Have a very happy evening...Ivanka

Paris Birthday Card

Monday again and it's time for another OMM (Oldie Moldie Monday) card. This is also based on this week's CPS sketch.

The paper is from Cherry Arte...a few years old. And the stamp is from Stampabilities, also a few years old. The border is from Colorbok and the flowers are from Prima.

It was a beautiful Easter weekend here and it was so nice to be able to work outside. Hope you've had a great weekend.
