Be Mine

It's Monday, so it's time to dig into my paper stash and give some love to long forgotten paper. This week, it's Basic Grey's Sugared line...I can't believe I've neglected it, it was one of my favorite lines...but new paper came in and this beautiful paper was forgotten.
This is based on thins week's Get Sketchy #71.

Trying to find my inner shabbiness, I whitewashed the paper, then distressed the edges. The cardstock is from Jillybean Soup, punch out tag is from Pink Paislee. The lace, chipboard heart and stick pin are from Making Memories.

It's funny how soon after Christmas is over, we get right into Valentine's Day, isn't it? I never used to make cards for Valentine's Day, but with so many wonderful products out that make it easy to create for the holiday, it's just a natural to get drawn in.

Today's card is for Get Sketchy #69 and since it's Monday, it's time for Oldie Moldie Monday where we get to dig into the old paper stash and give some love to long forgotten products.

The cardstock is unknown, I dry embossed it with Victoria embossing folder from Cuttlebug and then sanded a bit to distress. The die cut tags are from Pink Paislee, the 3D stickers are from Martha Stewart and the ribbon is from Making Memories.

Post Christmas...

Hello...Are you happy to be on the other side of Christmas? I kind of am, it's been hectic, but it's also been a wonderful time of family and friends and fun gifts and lots of good food. I'm totally enjoying today...relaxing, watching old videos and making a card. A pretty perfect day, I think.

Today's card is based on sketch 197 at CPS. This week they are doing the year in review where you can choose any sketch from the past year. It's also based on the daily challenge at 365 Cards Plentiful Patterns - Use at least 3 of the following patterns on your card - plaid, paisley, gingham, hounds tooth, toile. I chose argyle, gingham and toile. The flower is from Prima, brad is from Making Memories and the sticker is from SRM stickers. It's also Oldie Moldie Monday where I dig into my forgotten papers and give them a new purpose in life. The argyle paper is from Dream Street and the toile is from Adorn It, Carloee's Creations.

I made a set of Luminaria's for a friend this Christmas. I found a fabulous video tutorial here.

These were so easy and so much fun to make. And using a battery operated votive makes these safe to use with paper and safe to have in my studio.

I used a Martha Stewart snowflake punch and Prism metallic paper. The metallic paper was perfect for this project because it is a heavier weight than card stock and the metallic shine is so pretty with the light reflecting off of it.

I'm taking a little break from Christmas cards today. Much as I love making them and love the whole season, it was nice to pull out some different paper to play with. And since it's Oldie Moldie Monday, it's time to pull out some long neglected paper and give it some love.

Today's card is based on this week's sketch 93 at Card Patterns. All of the paper is from a large stash of My Mind's Eye paper. It's a few years old, it coordinates beautifully and I still love it. This card is also for the Card Creations Favorite Occasions Week-The Thank You Challenge on Moxie Fab World which runs until next Monday.

The image is from Craft Secrets, the sentiment sticker is from SRM Stickers, twill tape is from Martha Stewart and the twine is from May Arts.

Mojo Monday

It's been a while since I joined in on the Mojo Monday sketch challenge. So here it is...Mojo Monday meets Oldie Moldie Monday!

Actually, my paper today is not that oldie and it's definitely not moldie! The paper and Jolly by Golly element is from Cosmo Crickets Christmas line from last year. The lace, rhinestones and jingle bells have been in my stash for a long, feels good to use them. Embossing folder is from Cuttlebug, Provo Craft.

I'm also linking this card to the Cute Card Thurdsday challenge where the challenge this week is 'anything goes'!

Challenges x 3!

Christmas card season has hit my house. So it was good to come across 3 sketch/challenge sites that seemed to work well to get me going. And since it's Oldie Moldie Monday, it's time to dig into my stash and find some long forgotten papers and embellishments to use.

The first challenge was the Sketch Sunday challenge on 365 Cards.


The papers and tag are from K&Co (Christmas Cheer), embossing folder is Victoria from Cuttlebug.

Here's another card with the same supplies. The ribbon is from Martha Stewart.

The second sketch challenge is from Clean and Simple Stamping....although there is no stamping on this card.

The paper was a gift from my friend Barb last year and has a wonderful shimmery look to it. The snowflakes are foam from a Michael's and the sentiment is really old from Making Memories.

The third challenge sketch is from Card Patterns.

The paper is again from K&Co., the glittered snowflakes are from Toner Crafts (Michael's post Christmas sale last year), sentiment is from SRM stickers.

So that's it, that is the end of the K&Co Christmas Cheer Mat pad. I used it all up!!!!

Just 3 million pieces of paper left to use up!!

CPS # 181

Today, we're shopping for things for my daughter to take to University.

Yup...my baby is that old! The years have just flown. She's excited though and I know it'll be an amazing experience for her. And I also know I'm going to miss her to bits. She will only be about 45 minutes away, so we'll hopefully see her often. The winds of change are coming.....

Today's card is an Oldie Moldie. I know I have been a really bad Oldie Moldie Monday participant so it's time to dig into the stash pile and use up some paper. This paper is from Hot Off The Press. I still like it, I'll have to use it more often.

This is based on this week's sketch at Card Positioning Systems. The bird stamp is from Inkadinkadoo, the sentiment is from Papertry Ink, flowers are from Prima.

Today's shopping should be fun (except on the wallet!) but in about 2 weeks, the Kleenex will be flying. And it won't be pretty.

My flapper stamp is from Hero Arts circa 2002, the paper is from a pad of Vintage Papers from Hot off the Press, also a few years old. Sentiment stamp is from Papertrey Ink.

Oldie Moldie Monday, A Sketch and Prizes!

Welcome to Oldie Moldie Monday!

My friend Barb and I are joining Operation Write Home this week. They have a wonderful card challenge site on their blog Stars and Stamps and each Sunday they post a sketch challenge. This is a wonderful organization that sends handmade cards to our deployed troops, so they can in turn send them home to friends and family. Barb has been playing along with their challenges and has made an impressive 50 cards which she recently sent off to OWH so they can send them to the troops.

We hope you play along. Here are the details of the challenge:

Clean and Simple Oldie

There is a great sketch over at Clean and Simple stamping blog (FTL 87) this week. One of those perfect sketches for any occasion. And it's pretty simple. So why did it take me most of the morning yesterday to make these cards??

Do you ever have those days? You look at a sketch and think, "this one is so easy, I'll be done in no time flat!". Then papers and patterns and colors get in the way and before you know it, that very simple sketch has taken on a life of it's own!

I'm glad I continued to throw papers around, I finally came up with 4 cards I liked. And it WAS fast and simple, once I found the papers I wanted to use!

Since it's Oldie Moldie Monday, I dug into my stash for the papers. The Mom card paper is from Paper Salon and the Dad card paper is from Basic Grey. Both papers have enjoyed a long stay in my scrap box and it was high time they got used. The stamps are from Studio G. The flowers have also been in my stash for a few years, glad to finally use them.

Paris Birthday Card

Monday again and it's time for another OMM (Oldie Moldie Monday) card. This is also based on this week's CPS sketch.

The paper is from Cherry Arte...a few years old. And the stamp is from Stampabilities, also a few years old. The border is from Colorbok and the flowers are from Prima.

It was a beautiful Easter weekend here and it was so nice to be able to work outside. Hope you've had a great weekend.

Monday's Card

Were you around earlier today when there were some issues with Blogger?? All of my pictures had disappeared. There were only red X's where the pictures used to be. For a minute I thought I had really done it, but soon realized it was a Blogger issue and not my fiddling with the new blogger templates. I was sure glad to see all the pictures back this afternoon.

It' time for OMM (Oldie Moldie Monday), where we dig out some products that have been in hiding too long and give them some love. Today's card is based on the sketch at the Clean and Simple Stamping blog. I'm so glad to have found this blog, great inspiration for clean and simple stamping. Right up my alley!

The image is from Serendipity stamps stamped with Versafine ink. The paper is ???. It's one of the pieces that's been in my pile for many, many moons. The border is from Colorbok and the sentiment is from SRM stickers (still loving them!).

Now for something that will make someone smile...I came across this great blog while following a link from Becky Higgins...it's eighteen25. Have a look...Download and print this sign and let the fun begin.

I've got my sign printed and my plastic eggs ready to go. I'm going to 'egg' the girls at work this week. I can hear the giggles already!!

Rainy Monday...

Wasn't there a Carpenter's song like that? About rainy days and Mondays? Yes, I'm that old....

Rainy Mondays are ok sometimes, they let me not feel guilty about hiding in my room and putzing about.

So, I checked out the challenge on 365 Cards Blog this morning. It's Movie Monday and today's movie is Alice in Wonderland, not necessarily just the movie, but anything that inspires you from the theme. That was never one of my favorite stories, but then thinking about it and doing a bit of research, I came across this image of a tea cup that I fell in love with.

The image came from The Graphics Fairy. It's a fabulous site for all kinds of images that are great for card making. The best part of this site? It's an Angel Company, so you are free to use the images on your cards and the images are great quality.

I used Basic Grey, Nook and Pantry paper, Colorbok border, May Arts twine and Papertrey Ink sentiment.

And since it's Oldie Moldie Monday, I'm sharing a card where I've used supplies that I've been lovingly hoarding over the past several years. The card stock is from Prism Papers embossed with Cuttlebug HB folder, the patterned paper is from Basic Grey (Motifica-one of my faves), tree stamp is from Serendipity Stamps, sentiment is from Papertrey Ink and the photo turn is from Stampin Up.

Cheery and Bright

Wasn't it just in the last post that I said I wasn't really adventurous with my colors? Umm, well I seem to be getting a bit more spunky!

The first card is for Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger and also for Caardvarks challenge to use stickers. The bright, clean look of the Moxie trigger photo really inspired me. I did have to pop out to M's to get this ribbon. Can you believe I did not own a stitch of yellow ribbon. With all my ribbon, how can that be?? I'm quite happy to give this yellow beauty a new home!

Ribbon is from Offray, Paper is from Cosmo Cricket (Lil' Man), the tag is a sticker from American Crafts and the rub on is from Melissa Frances.

The next card is for the sketch on CPS this week, still using the Cosmo Cricket papers. The chipboard swirl is from Cosmo Cricket as well, flower is from Prima, sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

And here is my new addiction. I recently won a prize on the Tombow Blog, and along with a bunch of great adhesives, the package included a pack of their dual brush markers. Not being a big stamper, I really had no idea where to start until I found Marie Browning's tutorial. On the weekend, I sat down and just played. When I realized how easy stamping with markers was, I pulled out some SU stamps that I've barely used and went to town. I just had so much fun coloring and punching!

Which leads me to my Oldie Moldie Monday card. The October Afternoon paper is really not that old, but it has been in my stash for a couple of years. I still love it. I used one of my newly stamped circles and a Papertrey Ink sentiment.

We're getting hit with a snow storm and they're calling for freezing rain. I don't have to go anywhere tonight, so I think it's back to my studio with more bright colors to cheer me up.

Oh and I'm planning to watch the ice dancing, the Can. team is in first place going into the final.

CPS Sketch 154

Another week gone, amazing how fast the time goes. It's been busy around here and not much creating getting done. I didn't even get my Oldie Moldie Monday card posted til today.

The first card I made is for the CPS sketch #154 . The paper and chipboard are from Cosmo Cricket (Lil' Man), letter stickers are from Making Memories, felt # is from American Crafts, trim is from Michaels.
These next 2 cards are for a challenge on Cuppas and Cards and my Oldie Moldie Monday cards. It was our first anniversary celebration last week. The first challenge was to make a spring card and use only stickers. The paper is from K&Co. and Basic Grey, spring sticker is from Creative Imaginations.

The next challenge was to make a coffee/tea card. The paper and sticker here are from Creative Imaginations again, label die cut from Nestablilites (label 1), stamp is from Papertry Ink.

This next card was for a challenge on the SRM Blog, to use their blog title as inspiration to make a card. Have a look at their blog, my card was featured today. Woohoo. Wish I could find some SRM stickers, they should be arriving in stores soon, so I will keep searching.

I must admit that The Olympics are taking up a lot of our time around here for the past week. We seem to be glued to the TV. I'm looking forward to the Men's skating final tonight. Are you watching?

The Moment I Met You

The cards I find hardest to make are for other cardmakers. Right behind that are cards for those closest to me. I want those special cards to be just right for the person I'm making them for. So needless to say, Valentine's day cards for my sweetheart are tough.

So here is waht I came up with for this Valentine's Day. I loved the verse the minute I came across it. It comes from Love Lines, a CD from Bluegrass Publishing, and it just says everything I want to say. Perfectly.

This is based on this week's sketch #50 at Card Patterns. The paper is from GCD studio's, ribbon is from May Arts and the buttons are old from Making Memories, held together with wire.

And since it's Monday, here's my Oldie Moldie card for this week. The paper is My Mind's Eye, the script paper is 7 Gypsies, the sticker is from PSX, letters are from Rebecca Sower and hardware is from Stampin' Up. Yes, everything on this card is very Oldie Moldie!!

Card Patterns and Oldie Moldie...

The weekend has come can gone. Hope you had a good one.

I'm starting of this week with a card for Card Patterns Sketch 49. This sketch was a bit of a challenge but I got through it. I used Pink Paislee Cupid paper and punch out tag, Basic Grey flower, Making Memories trim,buttons and stickers.

After Teri Anderson's recent Old stuff challenge, Barb and I decided we liked going through our stash (it makes room for new stuff, right?!) so we're bringing bringing back Oldie Moldie Mondays. I'm going to try and use up as much of my stash as I can this year...to make room for all the stuff I'm going to buy when I go and visit her next!!!

So here we go....I decided to bring out my MM paint and foam stamps. I still love using them and this was so much fun. The image is old K&Co. (that has to be the last of it!!), it's matted on Fiber Mark paper. The sentiment is computer generated.

This is a Penny Black sticker with more of my painting...

Merry Christmas

It's been a while since I've done an Oldie Moldie card, so I thought I'd get one done this week. I dug out my Christmas paper scraps and found these papers that I've had for a while. The script is from 7 Gypsies and the other is from Basic Grey. Flowers and leaves are from Prima and the brad and sentiment are from Making Memories.

Hi There!

So...it's been a while, hasn't it?! How is the summer going for you so far? Ours has been crazy/busy but also a lot of fun. And I can't believe how fast it's going.
My girls spent a couple of weeks getting spoiled rotten by their grandma and all of our family in Edmonton. They had an amazing time and we are very lucky to have a very wonderful extended family that the girls just love! While they were gone out West, Steve and I went on a boating trip down the Trent-Seven Waterway here in Ontario. We had crappy weather, but loved the relaxing days on the boat and some nice 'together' time.
After that, I joined the girls in Edmonton for a week. I am so grateful to be able to go home again. My mom still lives in the same home where I grew up and having her bang pots around in the kitchen brings back so many wonderful memories.
One of the radio stations had a retro weekend while I was there. That was such a blast from the past! Hearing the same songs now that I used to listen to back then, in the house where I grew up...well it made me stop and relive the past. It almost made me feel like you can go back again, if even for the length of a song!
So my retro weekend inspired me and when I came home, I dug out my We Are Memories paper and made this card, reminding me of the 'good old days'!
