The Boyfriend Card

So here's how this card came about...Julia (14) texting endlessly with friends...pops her head up and asks me if I would make a card for her friend's boyfriend.

What?????????

First...I'm just a tiny bit flattered that one of her friends
(a) knows what I do and
(b) likes my cards.

But for her boyfriend?????

So with trepidation, I decided to tackle this...never mind that I find teenage boys hardest to make cards for...and the stress I had to put up with Julia checking on me through the whole process...well it was HER friend, she tells me...she had to make sure the card was good....

In the end, I quite like how it turned out. The friend picks it up tomorrow. Hope she likes it. Julia approves, so I should be ok.

I used the argyle embossing folder on metallic paper. Matted it with Core'dinations paper which I sanded at the edges. The sentiment is computer generated and the '2 U' are Thickers from American Crafts.

Here's the envelope...the boyfriend's name starts with K...
And no...this isn't Julia saying that she needed a card for her friends boyfriend when it was actually her boyfriend...I'm pretty sure she doesn't have a boyfriend...yup, I'm sure.
So that's the story of the boyfriend card.

Mellow Yellow

I made a card similar to this a while ago, only it was pink. I loved the simple classic style of that card, so here it is in yellow. It's funny, but a few years ago I wouldn't have ever used yellow on a card. Now I love the cheery brightness of it.

I used a Bazzill Journaling note for the background, the dress stamp is from Impression Obsession, sentiment sticker is from SRM.

I made this for Caardvarks Birthday Card Challenge, SRM Clean and Simple challenge and Moxie Fab's Card Style Week: Classy and Elegant

Golden...take two!

I had this piece of 12 x 12 Golden Anniversary paper from Stemma out on the table. It was left over from a card I made for a friend a few days ago. I didn't want to put the it away because I knew it would get 'lost in paper' never to be seen again. So I finished it. And I have 4 more Golden Anniversary cards. I think I'm set for a while!

This first one is based on the sketch at No Time to Stamp CAS sketch # 148. The trasparency is from Hambly Screen Prints. I stamped the black background with Stampin Up's French Script background in gold. Gold trim is from May Arts.

For this card, I embossed the background with swirls embossing folder from Cuttlebug then I inked it in gold. The 50th Anniversary brad is from Creative Imaginations.

The gold heart is from Frost Creek charms.

All of these cards fit in with Moxie Fab's Card Style Week: Let's do Classy and Elegant challenge.
I love classy and elegant! Cath has a few challenges over at Moxie Fab World right now, check it out and find your style!

Golden...

For those of you following along at home, yes this is my second post of the day. Unheard of, I know...

This is a 50th Anniversary card for a friends' parents. I used this week's sketch at 2S4U. The Anniversary paper is from Stemma and the gold 50th brad is from Creative Imaginations.

So I decided to make another card with some of the paper left over. The only addition here is the transparency page from Hambly.

Thanks for dropping by. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

License to drive...

So...Dana took a big step today and mom is entering into a new age of stress! She's licensed to drive and so excited! And a new era begins...

This definitely calls for a card! And a pink one of course!!

This is based on the CAS-tastic challenge this week. There was a list of things to use and I used a printed image from the internet and inked edges. Then I got mixed up, I thought the list had ric rac on it, but it actually said lace. My mistake...but I like the way the card turned out and Dana is over the top excited with everything today!
Let the worrying begin....

So...it's been a while...

How you doin'?? I can't believe how long it's been since I've posted. I hope there are a few of you out there that haven't given up on this little blog of mine. Life sometimes gets in the way of all of this blogging fun and June was full of life here. From recitals to music concerts, to 2 graduations...life was hopping here!

I am definitely glad to be back to my cardmaking though. I cleaned and organized my studio today and that felt amazing. Then I found some challenges to get me going.

First, the monthly challenge on the SRM blog is to make a clean and simple card. Love their stickers and love clean and simple...so this was easy. This is also for the CAS-tastick Wednesday challenge where the CWCo11 challenge is to use kraft paper. Love that too!

Cardstock: The Paper Co.
Patterned Paper and chipboard: Cosmo Cricket, Lil’ Man
Sticker: SRM Stickers (
Sticker Sentiments-Thank You)
Ribbon: Offray

Twine
So there...a relatively painless return to my studio. Thanks for dropping by, I hope you're having a wonderful summer so far...Ivanka
