Hero Arts

Hi...I have been known to collect stamps over the years...always with great intention of learning new techniques and doing some wonderful things with my stamps!  I think I've learned and then quickly forgotten a ton of new techniques over the years, so the new strategy is just to stamp...nothing fancy, just stamp.

So in doing that, I'm joining in with Hero Arts Blog April Contest.  My card is based on one of the sketches.

ha-april2012-sketches

The background is different embossing folders.  I diecut Nestabilities Label 8 tag, stamped the flowers with VersaMark, then heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Then I painted the entire tag with Twinkling H2O's (wild plum).  The sentiment is stamped on vellum in black ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  The stamp set is With Sympathy from Hero Arts.

I'll end with just a couple of fun links (well for me anyway!)  The card I entered into the Crafty Steals contest last week didn't win, but did get a nice shout out on their blog Crafty Steals Blog.  And my card from Paper Crafts 365 Cards, was featured on their blog yesterday...Paper Crafts Connection Blog

Thanks for dropping by today and for indulging my sharing...Ivanka

Oldie Moldie Monday

It's Monday again and time to dig out some old supplies for Oldie Moldie Monday.  My friend Barb never misses a Monday, but I've been lax in participating lately.  :(  Not for the lack of Oldie Moldie supplies though, so it was nice this week to dig deep and use up some of my stash.

I made this card for one of our friends sons who graduated from an aviation college over the weekend.

I found the airplane image in the Microsoft clip art section.  It was perfect as I think this was the type of plane he flew.  I dry embossed the vellum, which I've had for years.  The graduation seal is from last year, I just covered up the year with a 2012 sticker from SRM.  For the envelope, the airplane sticker and the letters are from Creative Memories and must be at least 15 years old!  Definitely time to use them up!

Thanks for visiting...Ivanka

Here's my card for the occasion....

I used 3 different embossing folders, stamps from Pink Cat Studios (ties) and Papertrey Ink (sentiment), photo turn is from 7 gypsies and brad is from American Crafts..
Today I'm playing along with this week's sketch on CAS-ual Friday blog and the Third Thursday challenge at Crafty Steals Blog, to use brads.

Flower Pot

Hi there...it is a dull and cool day here today so there was no guilt as I spent most of the day making cards. :)

I found a new challenge blog A Blog Named Hero and since I have a few Hero Arts stamps, I thought I'd join in with their current challenge-cards with a view.  The flower pot stamp is vintage Hero Arts...way back from 2002!  I've used it here and there over the years and still find it cute.

I'm also joining in with the' how charming' challenge on the Less is More blog and the 'use your stash' challenge on The Kraft Journal.

I stamped the flower pot with VersaMark and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.  The front panel was dry embossed with Ornate Swirls from Sizzix and, circle window cut out and then I rubbed it with white ink.  Love the look of white on kraft cardstock.  The charm is from my stash, ribbon is from Offray and the sentiment strip is stickers from SRM.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Hello Friend

I feel like I should put a disclaimer or a warning before today's post...Bright colors ahead!

No, these are not my usual neutrals and earthy tones.  I had to physically restrain myself from adding some black matting.  I'm glad I did though, I love this card, bright colors and all.

The challenge at The Play Date Cafe (PDCC 128) is to blame for the brightness.  :)

I started by painting watercolor paper with LuminArte's Twinkling H2O's (pink azalia, yellow rose and orange peach) for the background.   I absolutely love these paints and the wonderful shimmer they have.  Then I stamped the dress (Impression Obsession) with VersaMark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  The background dry embossing plates are from Sizzix ( ornate swirls) and Cuttlebug flowers.  Brads are from Karen Foster and ribbon is from Offray.  The sentiment is from my other absolute favorite thing SRM stickers.  They are my first go to thing when I'm looking for a sentiment.

I distressed the heck out of everything with my Tonic distresser.

Thanks for braving the bright colors with me...happy Friday!

Happy Birthday

Hello...
Last week we got to take a trip out west to spend Easter with our family.  From Edmonton, 20 of us drove to Radium Hot Springs, BC to spend Easter here...

This was the amazing view from our room...

It's not a proper Croatian feast without my aunts' homemade braided bread!

The best part of all is that we got to spend time with the family.

It was a wonderful Easter.

Today, I'm playing along with Retro Sketches #7 and Case Study Challenge #86.  I think it's the first time playing along with both of these challenges.

The patterned paper (polka dots) is from Echo Park, lined paper is from Webster's Pages, label punch is from Stamipin' Up, boarder punch is from Fiskars, sentiment is from Papertrey Ink, ribbon is fromOffray and the button is from Making Memories.

Thanks so much for dropping by today.

Baby Girl...

So it's time for Oldie Moldie Monday...where we show some love to long forgotten paper and supplies.  I'm also joining in with Moxie Fab's Practical Solutions for Paper Crafters: don't throw it away challenge.

Here are my cards using old 7 Gypsies paper, small squares of transparency from Pebbles Inc, and small bits of pink twine.  The sweet baby feet charm is from Hirschberg, Schultz & Co., I got them at Michaels.

I've had the transparency squares in my stash for many years and I came close to throwing them away lots of times.  So glad I didn't.  They are still cute.

Thanks for dropping by,
Ivanka
