Vintage Christmas

Recently I bought some wonderful vintage Santa images at a museum gift shop.
These images are called scrap reliefs, they date back to the Victorian era and are still made today by Mamelock Press from the UK.  The images are so beautiful that all I had to do was cut them out and adhere to the background.

Here's a quick video explaining scrap reliefs.

Aren't they just beautiful?  The paper they come on is quite thin so I adhered them to a card stock background and then cut them out.

Time Keeps on Slipping...

Hello.
Yesterday in the mail, I received my copy of Paper Crafts Holiday Cards and More-Vol 8.  It's a fabulous issue...and right there on page 12 of this gorgeous issue is this cute, wonderful, simply adorable picture of my girls!  Oh and the Festive Binder Clip project is mine too!!

This is one of my all time favorite pictures of the girls, it was such a fun time...I remember this day like it was yesterday.  Doing their hair, picking out what to wear...and heading outside to capture the perfect moment with snowflakes fluttering by.  This picture, taken over a decade ago, still makes me smile...and makes my heart melt.

This issue of HC & M also made me smile.  I love flipping through the pages, seeing all the amazing projects in there.  I'm not sure how I will do with the digital issues...but time keeps on slipping...and changing, just as my daughters have.  And I too...will keep changing.

Happy Saturday.

Cute as a Button

Hello,
Last week I made some baby girl cards so I thought I'd make some baby boy cards to balance things out.

Today's card is based on this card that I made a while ago,  it has become one of my most repinned cards on Pinterest.

So I thought I'd recreate it.

The embossing folder is from Cuttlebug, The stickers are from SRM,  scallop punch and ribbon are from Stampin' UP! and the charm is from Michaels.

Moxie Fab Thanks! Blog Hop

Good Morning and welcome to the most fabulous blog hop in history!  It is fabulous only because this blog hop is in honor of Cath Edvalston who has inspired the crafting community with her Moxie Fabness and her genuine caring for all she comes in contact with.

The power of being a Moxie Fab Winner is such that I still have my 2 wins on my blog side bar.  It was beyond fabulous to be picked by Cath to be Moxie Fab!

Here are my two wins;  Gray is the New Black  and  Tuesday Trigger Winner!  Those are still two of my favorite cards and I still remember the excitement of seeing my card/name on reveal day!

But as I've learned so well lately...change is inevitable and Cath is leaving Moxie Fab World...

Not before we have a proper send off for her in the only way we know how.....

This whole wonderful adventure starts at Moxie Fab World and following the links you should have arrived here from Laura Pryor's Blog.

Here is my card for Cath.  It was inspired by my Tuesday Trigger win card...still one of my favorite cards!

What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven't happened yet.
Anonymous

Thank you so much Cath, for being our navigational compass for all things Moxie Fab.  We'll miss you.  Also big thanks to the ladies who started, organized the blog hop and kept us all informed!

Your next stop on the hop is Ashlee Townsend's Blog.

Thanks for dropping by today,

Happy Birthday Card

Hello,
It's a rainy Saturday today.  Perfect for staying in...the plan for today...making cookies and cards.

Today's card is for the sketch 85 challenge at Cardabilities.  Great sketch, so fun to create with.

I'm still digging through my stash and using things as I find them.  The fabric flower is from The Paper Studio, tag is from K & Co., die cut leaves are from Stampin' UP!, sentiment stamp is from PTI.  The only new thing is the paper which is 'Yours Truly' from Glitz.

Thanks so much for dropping by,
Ivanka

Happy Birthday Card

Good Morning.
So, I don't know if you do this, but I tend to 'hoard' things that I really like.  I finally realized that I have no idea what I'm saving these things for.  It has been a very freeing experience to finally use things up.

The light house sticker is one of those things.  It's from PSX and I've got 2 sheets left.  I'm finally using them up.  You'll see a few more cards from me with different light house images.

The faux wax seal from Sonnets is another one of my hoarded items.  The original package of 4 had been in my stash for probably 10 years.
Not any longer.  They are all used up.
Feels good.

Happy Saturday.

Trick or Treat Card

Hi again.

Yesterday, I posted this card and project which were published in the Fall issue of Paper Creations magazine.  I liked the Halloween tube, but didn't really have a need for it once it came back from the magazine.  So I took it apart and used the tag to make a card instead.

The paper is from Authentique, Enchanted.  Gems are from the $ store.
I quite like this as a Halloween card.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We're having beautiful weather today, nice to have a 3 day weekend.  Canadian Thanksgiving seems to come so early, I'm probably more ready for it in November...but the fabulous meal and the great family memories are welcome any time of the year.

I didn't make any Thanksgiving cards this year, so here are a couple of Halloween projects.

Both of these are published in the current issue of Paper Creations Magazine, page 72-73.  :)

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Happy WCMD!

Happy World Cardmaking Day!  I hope you get a chance to do something crafty today or that you get to enjoy the creativity and inspiration of so many blog hops happening today.

I am still playing with supplies on hand, digging in and finding forgotten goodies hiding in my stash and using paper that I've long forgotten about.  I'm having a ball!!  So many beautiful things that I'm happy I found again.  And finally got to use.

On my card today, the dress stamp in from Impression Obsession, sentiment stamp is from PTI.

Thanks for stopping in today.

Thank You.

I fell in love with the 75 Cents line from Kaisercraft.  Its elegance and gorgeous colors are just perfection.
Paired with a fancy sticker sentiment from SRM Stickers, and not much else is needed.

Happy Wednesday!

Hello, hello, hello...

I love small cardmaking forums where you can get to know each other, chat, challenge and swap if you'd like to.  There was a wonderful group over at the CardMaker magazine site but that closed down last year.  That didn't stop the wonderful group over there.  They started a new group called ScrapZee.

Last year they started a Birthday club where everyone sends a card on your birthday.  The most wonderful thing is getting a mailbox full of beautiful cards when it's your birthday.  During the summer, I fell off the list for a while and I've felt bad about it ever since.  So I made a bunch of 'Hello' cards to send out to the members whose birthday I missed.

Here are a few of them.  The Hello is from Hampton Art Stamps.

Happy Sunday.

Two Quick Cards...

Hello,
I'm still digging through my scraps and long forgotten supplies.  Both the sticker in the first card and the image in the second have been in my scrap pile for years.  Probably longer than 5 years.

Nice to finally use them.  And how cute is that dog bone button?!  I wish I knew who made it.  I would love to have more.

Thanks for dropping by.  Wishing you a happy Monday tomorrow.  :)

The Rose

Hello...
I found a new (to me) challenge site.  Fusion Card Challenge.  So fun to see new ways to challenge ourselves.  Here is this week's challenge.

Here's my card using the photo as inspiration.

Sadly, this is one of the few PSX rose stickers I have left.  I had been hoarding these for years, they are so gorgeous.  The typed paper is from Stampin' UP!, the embossing folder is Acanthus from Anna Griffin, ribbon is from Offray, sentiment stamp and heart die are from PTI and the sentiment tag is a punch from EK Success.

This reminds me of...The Rose.  Yes, I'm that old!! :)

Thanks for dropping by.

Hello...

So...it's been a while.
I used to wonder what happened when my favorite bloggers stopped blogging.
Now I know.
Life.
Life happens.
A new job, busy schedules, vacations, different priorities...life.

So, I've been trying to ease back into cardmakeing, but it's been a little tough.  It just doesn't flow as well as when you are not in the 'thick of it'.

So today, I dumped out my scraps and leftovers container.  And here is the result.
All cards were made from scraps and leftovers from other projects.

These cards will not win blog challenges, or world cardmaking day contests...but it feels pretty good to be back!

Hope to see you soon,
Ivanka

Crate Paper & CardMaker Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to another fun blog hop.  We at the CardMaker  blog team are so excited to join in the fun with the amazing artists from the Crate Paper Design Team.  Today we are featuring Crate Paper's gorgeous Maggie Holmes line!  What a fabulous line, so much fun to create with.

For my project today, I started with some white acrylic paint from DecoArt and I dry brushed the Emily Jane paper to distress.  I then used the ephimera die cut cardstock, tags and butterfly.

For the coordinating gift box, I added some distressed cardstock to the top of the box, then die cut a label from the same paper, added some ribbon, twine and a die cut bow from the Ephimera die cut line.

I am in love with this line and can't wait to hop along and see all the beautiful projects created for the hop today.

Your next stop on the hop is:

And don't forget to stop by the Crate Paper Blog where they are hosting a $40 prize pack giveaway of Maggie Holmes items.

Hope you enjoy the blog hop.

Class of 2013

Hello, not too much creativity here lately.  Life sure gets in the way of time spent in the studio.
But that will hopefully change soon.  :)

Today's card is one I made a while ago, just never got around to sharing.  It's going out to my nephew who has just graduated with an Engineering Degree.  :)

The stickers are from SRM , grad hat is from Jolee's, embossing folder is quatrefoil from the paper studio.

Today's card was for a coworker who left our team.  It's always hard to lose people who you love to work with and who make 'work' a good place to be.

The flowers were from Bazzill, the flower center was from my stash, the leaf die cut is from Stampin' UP! and the embossing folder is from Cuttlebug (Anna Griffin, Acanthus).  The sentiment was printed on vellum, the paper is old My Mind's Eye.

CardMaker/Flourishes Blog Hop

Hi and welcome to our CardMaker/Flourishes blog hop!  Today we're joining in the fun of celebrating the May releases from Flourishes.  Take a look at this fun and fabulous Glamour Girls set. Many thanks to Flourishes for providing us with the goodies for today's hop, such fabulous stamp sets.

I love to read but haven't jumped on the e reader bandwagon yet.  Since I usually use folded scraps of paper for book marks, I thought it was high time to make some pretty ones to use instead of scraps.

Here's my book mark, so much prettier than scraps, I think!!

And because I liked it so much, I made 2 more!!  Love this stamp set!

I'm looking forward to seeing these beauties every time I pick up my book.

Don't forget to visit the Flourishes blog where they are hosting a giveaway of their entire May release.   A value of more than $70!!!!!

Your next stop is Silke Ledlow.  I've been a long time fan so I know she will have some wonderful inspiration for you.

Have a great day!

Caring Thoughts

Hi there.

Working full time has certainly not left too much free creative time in the past few months.  But I'm learning to adjust and make time for the important things...like cards.  :)

Here's one I recently made for a friend who needed a sympathy card.

The stamp is from Hero Arts (With Sympathy), the embossing folders are Swiss Dots and Acanthus (Anna Griffin) from Cuttlebug.  The 3 D flower is from K& Co.

Thanks for dropping by,

CardMaker and Gina K Blog Hop!!

Hello and welcome to a wonderful blog hop where the CardMaker blog team is joining the Gina K design team.  You should have arrived from  Valerie Stangle's fabulous blog.

Gina K generously provided the CardMaker team with the gorgeous Spring Parade Stamp TV kit.  This kit is really, really packed with beautiful stamps, patterned paper, cardstock, ribbon and brads...and they all coordinate perfectly.  I know I'm going to be creating with this kit all spring long...and probably beyond!!

You'll find tons of inspiration on our blog hop today, but if you need even more, check out the Spring Parade Pinterest board for lots more beautiful projects with this kit.

Here is my card and gift box...

The flower stamp is from the Blossom stamp set, the sentiment is from the Dreams Take Flight stamp set.

For the gift box, I painted the box black (didn't have a black one), the bow die cut is Bow, Create a Flower from Sizzix.  The flower brad is from my stash, I dipped it in VersaMark ink then heat embossed with Zing embossing powder (Powder) from American Crafts.

Your next stop on the blog hop is Beth Silaika's blog where I know you'll find more gorgeous creations!

And don't forget to stop in at the Gina K blog where where she will be hosting a giveaway on her blog...a $50 gift certificate!!!

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that I had the opportunity to meet Gina K at her store in Wisconsin a few years ago.  I was visiting my friend Barb and she made a point of making sure we hit the Gina K store...and Gina was there so we said hi...I have no idea why we didn't get a picture with her.  Oh well, I'll just have to go visit again, right Barb?!!!

Have fun on the hop!
