Reflections of the year...in cards.

So as 2007 comes to its' last day, I can't help but think about what a great year it's been and hope the next one is just as good or better. This time of year also has me looking back at all of my cards that I've made over the year-the good, bad and ugly! Looking back there are some cards that have me shaking my head wondering what I was thinking when I made that card. Anyway, today I want to focus on the good and share a few of my favorites from the past year.

For this card I used Daisy D's punch-out tags. They're held together by Daisy D's hinges. The photo corners are also Daisy D's. Tree stamp is by Hampton Art Stamps, the sentiment is computer generated and printed on vellum.

I made this for Wendi's birthday. It was based on a circle card tutorial Carla (Moralia) did. I was beyond thrilled when I found these coloured CD envelopes with windows that fit the card perfectly.

I loved the colours of this one. So soft and pretty. The corrugated paper has been in my scraps pile forever. Daisy die cut from Sizzix, PP is from K&Co. flower from Prima, brad from MM. The stamp is from JRL Design Co.

Sticker is by PSX, pp is by My Mind's Eye, Bohemia. Brads by Making Memories, sentiment stamp from Michaels.

This was a thank you card for friends who had a Tex Mex BBQ. The image is a napkin that they had at the party which I 'borrowed' to make the card. I knew it would make a cute card. Brads are by Karen Foster, don't know who makes twill.

Another PSX sticker. The BG stamp is Anna Griffin as is the sentiment. Offray ribbon.

One of my favourite PSX stickers, love the colors and the image seems to take me back to a simpler time. PP is My Mind's Eye-Bohemia, background stamp, sentiment and ink are from Anna Griffin, rhinestones are Icons from Me and my Big Ideas. The size of the card is 5x7.

Anna Griffin carriage stamp, American Crafts Rub on flourishes.

PP is K&Co., BG stamp is Anna Griffin again, rub ons from Deja Views. Lace is from a RAK.
And you guessed it, sticker is from PSX again.
Thanks for taking a peek at just a few of over 400 cards that I made in the last year.
Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year.

Christmas

It's hard to believe that Christmas has come and gone. It takes so long to get ready for it and then it's gone in a blink of an eye. Although we miss our family and friends out west and we wish we could be with them, our Christmas so far has been wonderful. Here are some of my favorite pictures of the season.

Pepper by the tree...

The table set for Christmas dinner...

The ornament gifts that Julia made for her friends...

I hope you're enjoying the season and all the wonderful things that come with it.

A Christmas Birthday

My friend Kelly has a birthday coming up in a few days. She's already received the card, so it's safe to post it now. After missing her birthday last year and not remembering till after Christmas, I wanted to make sure that I got this to her with time to spare this year. Hope you have a wonderful birthday Kelly!
The patterned paper is Chatterbox, Magic Mesh, flower is from Hot off the Press, brad is from K&Co., sentiments stamp is G Stamps and the dress is from Impression Obsession.

Losing a friend

A few years ago I never imagined that someone I met on line would become a friend. But that's just what happened at the Simply Sentiments site. We became more than friends, be were a family. And one of ours is leaving us today. Julie was a huge part of our family at Simply Sentiments. She was involved in swaps, RAK's and shared her talent and her friendship with all of us. Although she has struggled with many medical issues over the years, it seemed like things were getting better lately. Suddenly her heart stopped last week and today her family is making the most difficult decision of all, to take her off life support.

Julie , and all of the wonderful ladies I've met on line, have been on my mind a lot these past few days. What a wonderful thing this Internet is, to allow us to meet people from all over the world that we may otherwise never known. I am so thankful for all of these friendships.

As we say good bye to Julie, give your loved ones and your cyber friends, a special hug today.

This was the card that Julie sent me last Christmas.

Music card

I made this one for Julia's piano teacher. It came together pretty fast, I love it when that happens. The vellum has been in my stash for several years, glad to finally use it. Stamp is from Serendipity stamps, ribbon is from Martha Stewart. Music charm has also been in my stash for a while, not sure who makes it. I used Krylon Gold Leaf pen for the edging. We gave this to her today and she loved it.

Snow fun

So today wasn't a snow day as the girls had hoped and off to school they went!! We did get out last night for a walk, to jump in the snow and admire the Christmas lights. The lights look so pretty reflected off the snow.

It's beginning to look a lot like...

...a snowstorm. Yup, the big one that they've been predicting is here. It's coming down faster than we can shovel it, actually we've given up on the shovelling and are just enjoying looking at it through the window. The kids love it...it's going to be a white Christmas. Yippeee!

Well here I go in to the world of blogging. I think this is going to be fun. I've so enjoyed reading all the blogs I've visited and hope you enjoy mine while you're here.
This is one of the many cards I've made that are for sale this year. I'm really loving working with the K & Co. products. They're beautiful, festive and coordinate so perfectly. Here all elements are from K&Co., except the script paper which is from 7 gypsies and the ribbon is from Martha Stewart.

Love this Santa, to me he just says 'Christmas'. Everything is from K&Co. except ribbon is from Martha Stewart.
Sticker, and paper are from K&Co., script paper is from 7 gypsies. I just love the red script for Christmas cards. Ribbon is from Martha Stewart, sentiment is computer generated.

This has been one of my favorites this year. The Christmas cottage is a sticker from PSX. They are no longer in business so I'm always on the hunt for them in every LSS I visit. They are so beautiful and easy to use. The background stamp is from Stampin Up, the Christmas bough stamp is from Serendipity and the sentiment stamp is from JRL Designs.
K&Co sticker, 7 gypsies script paper, Prima flowers and Making memories brad. Stamp is from JRL Design.
Here I've used a K&Co. sticker , 7 gypsies script paper and Karen Foster patterned paper. Ribbon is from Martha again...love this and have been using is endlessly on my cards this year. Sentiment is computer generated.
